2.What is CNC Machining?

CNC, or computer numerical control machining, is a widely used manufacturing process that uses automated, high-speed cutting tools to form designs from metal or plastic stock. Standard CNC machines include 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis milling machines, lathes, and swiss-typed machines. Machines may vary in how CNC parts are cut—the workpiece may remain in place while the tool moves, the tool may remain in place while the workpiece is rotated and moved, or both the cutting tool and workpiece may move together.

Skilled machinists operate a CNC machine by programming tool paths based on the geometry of the final machined parts. The part geometry information is provided by a CAD (computer-aided design) model. CNC machines can cut almost any metal alloy and rigid plastic with high precision and repeatability, making custom machined parts suitable for nearly every industry, including aerospace, medical, robotics, electronics, and industrial. Janee provides CNC services and offers custom CNC quotes (链接到contact us) on over 50 materials ranging from commodity aluminum and stainless steel to advanced titanium and engineered plastics like POM and Teflon.

CNC Milling

CNC milling removes materials from the workpiece to create custom-designed parts with flat surface using cutting tool or multi-point milling cutters.
WIth our 3-axis & 5-axis CNC milling services, you can get milled parts with tight tolerance up to 0.01mm (±0.0008 in.)

CNC Turning

CNC turning shears materials from the ouside of a rod at incredible speeds using a spinning tool. At Janee, we apply 50+ CNC lathes and swiss-typed machines to create round or cylindrical turned parts with extreme precision that consistantly meet customers’ expectations. All the turning machines are highly automatic with less human error, higher efficiency and lower cost. Learn more about

4.CNC Machining Tolerances & Standards
Description General Tolerance or Standard
Maximum Part Size Milled parts up to 1300 x 700 x 700 mm .
Distance Dimensions For features of size (Length, width, height, diameter) and location (position, concentricity, symmetry) +/- 0.005”.
Orientation and Form Dimensions 0-12" +/- 0.005", Angularity 1/2 degree. For 24" and beyond please consult Janees Manufacturing Standards.
Precision Tolerances Janee can manufacture and inspect to tight tolerances per your drawing specifications.
Minimum Feature Size 0.020” (0.50 mm). This may vary depending on part geometry and chosen material.
Threads and Tapped Holes Janee can accommodate any standard thread size. We can also machine custom threads; these will require a manual quote review.
Surface Finish The standard finish is as-machined: 125 Ra or better. Additional finishing options can be specified when getting a quote.
Edge Condition Sharp edges will be broken and deburred by default. Critical edges that must be left sharp should be noted and specified on a print.

5 Available Finishes
  Name Description
As-Milled The finish option with the quickest turnaround. Parts are left with visible tool marks and potentially sharp edges and burrs, which can be removed upon request. Surface finish is comparable to 125 uin Ra finish.
Bead Blast The part surface is media blasted, typically using glass bead, to produce a smooth, matte appearance.
Anodized (Type II Or Type III) Type II creates a corrosion-resistant finish. Parts can be anodized in different colors—clear, black, red, and gold are most common—and is usually associated with aluminum.
Type III is thicker and creates a wear-resistant layer in addition to the corrosion resistance seen with Type II.
Powder Coat This is a process where powdered paint is sprayed onto a part which is then baked in an oven. This creates a strong, wear- and corrosion-resistant layer that is more durable than standard painting methods. A wide variety of colors are available to create the desired aesthetic.
Electroplating this is a process that uses an electric current to reduce dissolved metal cations so that they form a thin coherent metal coating on an electrode. Electroplating helps to increase the strength, thermal resistance and chemical resistance of the product. With electroplating, you can be sure that the finishing surface will last for a long time and would not be easily deformed. There are various types of electroplating process and they are:
  • Colored electroplating. Color electroplating involves using a color finish over the surface of the metal such that it gives it a very distinct and beautiful color. Color electroplating is a widespread process as it ensures that products come out with aesthetic beauty and helps to ensure that they last long.
  • Vacuum Electroplating: It is a process that allows creating a layer of metal on a substrate of another material. Also referred to as “vacuum deposition”, it involves heating the metal coating material until it vaporizes inside a vacuum chamber. It helps to retain the chemical and mechanical properties of the material such that there is no corrosion of the material. It also increases the resilience of the product.
